What am I to do?” Asked James as he spoke with Spencer. He had no choices left.
“Whatever you think is best,” answered Spencer as he sharpened his sword with a rock. He looked more concentrated on the sword than James’s issues.
“How are we going to get out of this arena, we have dying men out here?” Asked James as he looked out at wounded men.
“Negotiate. You were always good at that as a kid. The best debater there ever was,” said Spencer with a smile as he thought of the childhood memory.
“Great idea Spencer, are you sure you are not to be King?” Said James in a joking mood, even though he was scared to death of the thought of talking to the Cyclops King.
“Cyclops King, I request a meeting with you at once!” Boomed James speaking like a King.
“You shall have your request, Prince of Nazarath, we shall meet at once!” Yelled the Cyclops King from the top of his castle.
A young Cyclops came running down to get James, Spencer, Vaughn, and Victor. The boy was big for his age a dark royal blue color and he was already bigger than James and outweighed him by five hundred pounds, James was scared. James pondered if this boy was the Cyclops King’s son or was he just another servant boy? Why did James care? Only the medicine from the Cyclops King’s eye could help his father live, but this idea did keep his mind off the fact that he was about to go talk to this HUGE ugly monster about the fate of his men. They past a sign that said “Entering Cyclops territory once entered you will probably be killed, enter at your own risk,” once they past the sign they felt much more uneasy than before, just the thought of dying made James cringe.
“Enter!” Yelled the Cyclops King as the four of them approached the gate.
“Welcome to my Palace of Wind, this is the Palace where death knocks on the front door, are you scared yet?” Asked the Cyclops King with a smirk and a dangerous gleam in his eye that warned of the future.
“We need to negotiate some things Cyclops King!” Said James in a serious tone.
“Come we shall sit down in the dining hall,” the Cyclops King showed them to the dining hall.
“We have wounded men that need treatment immediately,” said James wasting no time.
“Why do I care you all will just die eventually?” Exclaimed the Cyclops King. This angered James, and it showed on his face. He turned dark red with hatred, but then he quickly gained control over his emotions and stared at the Cyclops King’s eye, the thing he wanted most. What was stopping James from killing the Cyclops King and Stealing the eye and taking it away from this horrible place, he knew he could do it, and who cares about all the men that would die down there? He cared! If he did take the eye he would not make it out of there alive with it any way what was he thinking? His emotions still had the better of him.
“At least let us go back to our camp and let us relax and heal the injured we will come back at seven o’clock in the morning, ready to fight with exactly the same amount of men as we have now,” negotiated James. The three others looked at James as if his head was growing leafs. They thought he was nuts, but James knew what he was doing, at least he hopped so.
“Sounds reasonable, how will I know you return with exactly the same amount of people?” Asked the King.
“Count them as we go out we will leave in two lines have two of your men count every person as we leave and add the two scores together at the end, does that make sense?” Answered James.
“I guess, and then we would just count your men on the way back in right?” Asked the Cyclops King.
“Yes, sir! Do we have a deal?” Asked James on the edge of his seat.
“Yes, we have a deal!” The Cyclops roared as they shook hands, the Cyclops’s way bigger than James’s.
“To bad that will never happen!” Yelled the Cyclops King as he shoved all four of them into a cell in the dining hall. He pushed them as if they were air.
“We had a deal!” Yelled James.
“I think a change of plans is in order!” Shouted the Cyclops King as he went off and laughed all the way out of the castle.
“What are we going to do?” Asked James as he looked to his brother for advice.
“We wait,” said Spencer, as they looked at him with a crazy look.
“Are you nuts? He is going to kill everyone down there if we do not get out of here quickly!” Yelled James at his brother.
“Well, then start thinking!” Exclaimed Spencer.
“Right,” they all said in unison.
They walked around tapping each stone, jumping against each wall, and pulling at each brick. They had no luck, they were sure everyone was dead by then, but then they heard a stone break. FREEDOM! They were ecstatic, but they had to be quiet or else they guards would hear them and kill them instantly.
They took out the stone and then the next and then the next and so on and so on. In fifteen minutes they were free they stepped out and they were on top of a river, they had an excellent idea, flood the palaces. Each person got a castle, Wind was James’s, Fire was Spencer’s, Earth was Victor’s, and Water was Vaughn’s.
They filled the river with rocks and logs until they were blocked off completely and had only one direction to go, up. Since the Palaces were built on the river this was an easy was to get rid of the Cyclops population.
The four meet up and ran down the hill to safety. They were ready to watch their plan work its magic. Five seconds later they heard a rumble that sounded like an explosion. Pieces of the palaces went everywhere, along with dead Cyclops’s and the Cyclops King went flying, but he was still alive.
After their successful plan they ran to the arena to check up on their army. They looked inside and all the soldiers were gone.
“Where are our solders?! They have disappeared into thin air!” Yelled Victor.
“They must have been taken away by the Cyclops’s,” answered James in an astonished tone of voice.
“What are we going to do know? We have no men and we could be ambushed at any point I am worried!” Asked Spencer.
“We must go back to camp, it is the only logical thing to do right now,” answered James still perplexed. Little did they know that someone was watching them closely preparing themselves to attack the unsuspecting four.
They walked back to base, and they were greeted by Jessica and a limping Wesley.
“You’re okay!” Screamed Jessica crying as she ran towards James and gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. She continued giving the other three a hug.
“What is the matter guy, you must have defeated the Cyclops King if you are here?” Asked Jessica puzzled.
“He stole all of our men and locked us up, we barely escaped with our lives,” exclaimed James depressed.
“What do you mean he took your men?” Asked Wesley.
“We blew up the Palaces and went back to retrieve our men and they were gone,” answered James.
“How did you blow up the four big Palaces?” Asked Wesley.
“They were built on a big river, we plugged up the holes and then, when the river over flowed, they exploded, just like a bomb blew up,” answered James.
“Brilliant I would have never thought of that! You are a genius James! You all are I am glad to know you!” Congratulated Wesley really astounded. James felt horrible though, his men were probably dead and he would soon probably be joining them.
Lucy then walked in, “Don’t beat yourself up over what you cannot fix, James,” said Jessica in her sweet, innocent voice. It calmed down James instantly. Somehow, she always made him feel better, even in this situation.
“Thanks, Jessica, you always make me feel better,” he said with affection.
“You’re welcome!” Exclaimed Jessica happily.
She walked out of the room, and James was there, sitting, left to his own thoughts.
What was he to do? He could just give up, go home tell his dad he tried his hardest, but it wasn’t enough. That sounded like a good idea, James even started packing up. He then thought about his men, his brother and his friends, and Jessica and her kingdom. He could not just give up on all of them. He had to finish his quest!
He still had no idea how he was going to do this, but he would not give up on everything he has gone through. He was ready to finish this battle, even if it took another five months, he would not give up, even if his father died, he-would-not-give-up! He was ready to meet up with his brother and his friends and come up with a plan.
